I'm too much of a grumpy old goat to watch Children In Need, so I missed this little bit of magic when it was on. It may well be the perfect music video. Vi certainly thinks it is.

Her favourite bits are Igglepiggle wandering into the back of the shot, the Pinky Ponk at the end and the Fat Controller. I really like the Koala Brothers, the Wombles and Paddington's James Brown act. It might be the sleep deprivation of the last few days, but the Hey Jude bit brings a little tear to my eye. But then, Hey Jude often does that to me anyway. Joyful. (Except... since when was Thomas the Tank Engine so scary looking?)

The Rollercoaster Soundtrack

Rollercoaster
Wooo, I'm finally Spotified up!

And this means I can at last do a tres, tres geeky thing I've been thinking about for a while now - namely, soundtracks to my epic fics.
Here's Rollercoaster's

Tracks are:
Quantum Theory - Jarvis Cocker - General theme
Carioca - Fred Astaire - Sung by Q in 'Blue Fairy Godmothers Don't Wear Sombreros'
Ode To Joy - Beethoven - Sung by Tasha & Data, theme music to triumph over Fajo.
Ballroom Blitz - Sweet - Inspiration for Tasha & Data's dance at the O'Brien Wedding
Baby Get Your Head Screwed On - inspiration for the Time's Arrow adventure
Suddenly Seymour - Little Shop Of Horrors Cast - rehearsed (unsuccessfully) by Data and Tasha during 'The Best Intentions'.
'Something Changed' - Pulp - general theme to the S7 adventures, especially the All Good Things adventure.Tracks under the cut are for forthcoming stories - possible slight spoilers for where Rollercoaster's going... )
Hope you enjoy!
Lost see no evil
Mum has been down with Sis this weekend. We went on an epic shopping trip yesterday for Sis' birthday presents and the 'non-birthday presents' that Mum still insists on buying for me every year even though I'm nearly 30 - by happy coincidence this coincided with the last day of a Debenhams Sale. Mum ended up getting a coat for sis, jeans for me & her (that's right, I now have exactly the same pair of jeans as my mother, only several sizes larger than hers. I am just so fucking hip) & a jumper for me and didn't even break £80. Bargain! Wearing the jeans now - properly comfy :)

Oh, and this is hilarious. The link I got off the brilliant Emma Kennedy on Twitter advertised it as being a school band's performance of the 2001: A Space Odyssey theme, but it's actually an adult orchestra, though they're all newcomers to the instruments they're playing. It's funnier to picture little kids doing it, though.

Have some Melancoly Beatles for a rainy Monday.

Jesus Wept! Am I seeing things or does the front page of OK Magazine actually have a blurry photo of a possibly-dead-certainly-dying Jacko being bundled into the ambulance? Did I miss a meeting where it was decided that any pretence of respect for the dying or bereaved relatives is now going to be ignored in favour of ghoulish voyerurism? Whatever you think of the bloke - I've never been a big fan in particular and went off him personally around the Earthsong/Jarvisgate incident, but I enjoy his music from the 70s & 80s still - he was still a human being, splashing pictures of him dying on the front page to flog copies of your shitty downmarket gossip rag is still diabolical. Whether the family approved of it or not (and from what I've heard about them, I wouldn't put it past 'em) it's still grotesque. We really are no better than the cunts who used to pay to point and laugh at Bedlam patients, aren't we? Modern media is rubbish.

Still not popped.

Love this remix of 'Being For The Benefit of Mr Kite'.

All pretty normal until 1:48 where it breaks into She's So Heavy and Helter Skelter on top of the end of Mr Kite. For some reason, it makes me think of Twelfth Night. It makes me want to do a version of the play set in a Mental Institute.

Mad dreams & a Mashup

  • Jun. 3rd, 2009 at 3:34 PM

Oh God, MENTAL dreams lately! Last night/this morning I dreamt that an old Uni friend who has since become a professional comedian and has been on telly'n'shit was a DJ, and that he'd invited me onto his radio show to plug a show I was in - for the best really, since I was doing 12th Night apparently, but he kept saying on air it was Midsummer Night's Dream. Only in the dream I overslept then had to hurry to the car and try to find the little radio station in the middle of an area of London I'd never driven in before. And my Satnav was broken. And at one point I had to stop the car because the Queen was leading a bicycle race(!) and the road had been shut off. Needless to say, I got to the station (via a magic door in the British Library which was only to be used in the case of Shakespeare Emergencies) just as the show ended.

Then, the dream changed and it was about Eric from D&DC who was a rent boy, working the streets. Oh, it gets weirder. A car pulled up and it was Chiwitel Ejiofor, who gave Cpt Shiny a long, appreciative look up & down, then got out of the car and pulled Eric into this little room (in a castle, I think) and they started going at it. Chewie was really dominant and Shinypants was loving it. It may have been a cartoon teenager and a real actor, but by jove, it was hot stuff.

Also, this song is really rockin' my Jeffrey Archos at the moment. J-Lo v S-Wo v K-Co with, as Hubs recently noticed, a little smattering of D-Bo in there for shits & giggles as well. No idea what the skinny bint with the Mickey Mouse mask has to do with it - shrink her anorexic ass down and just listen to the choon.

While I'm in a Beatles Place... Dr Who fans might enjoy this fanvid I found of all the regenerations, set to a rather pretty cover of 'Across the Universe' (although the original's better)

Watching this I am reminded of
a, How very silly the 7-to-8 regeneration was
b, How impossibly pretty 8 is

And almost a whole minute of Jai Guru Dei-va is a bit too much Jai Guru Dei-va. Just sayin'.

Hey Bulldog. Best bass riff evar? Maybe so, mes amis. Maybe so.

ETA: Paul's looking smokin' hot in this video. John's ginger mutton-chops aren't doing anything for me though, and this is speaking as an admirer of a good set of 'burns!

Something gives me the impression that Peter Buck wasn't that thrilled about this gig.

Mike & Michael look like they're having a whale of a time, though!

I actually found this while looking for the real video to Shiny Happy People, since the sight of Bill Berry and his awesome eyebrows prancing around a multicoloured set always makes me very happy.

It's Monday Night! It's twenty past 8! It's Bonkers 90s Dance Video Time!!!

First off is Frontier Psychiatrist by Avalanches.

This is the inspiration for this post since I looked it up on youtube so as to explain to to [info]katje0711 what the holy heck my icon's about. Potty fun.

Next up is another barking song that I like to quote in icon form - Fun For Me by Moloko.

Lastly, how's about a bit of Christopher Walken flying around an empty office to Fatboy Slim? For some reason, all of the versions of it on the youtubes have disabled embedding, but clicky for the wonderful Weapon of Choice. You can blow with this, you can blow with that...

Have a world of potty 90s fun, guys and dolls!

Reasons to be cheerful

Kuzco
I ought really to be working on this ere short film script application since the deadline's coming up, but I'm back here again instead. Tra-la-la-la-laaa.

There have been many things to cheer me over the last couple of days since I was in a pregno-funk earlier this week.

Firstly, when looking for the Sledgehammer video on the youtubes I also found this:

The video to Officially The Most Cheerfulest Song Evar.

Secondly, I have fabbo new Tardos banners to share -

Particularly love the Zombie Dad one! This zombie's a wee bit riper than Charlie, mind... I may scribble a little jot of the image I have in my mind of Zombie Charles someday.

Thirdly, Vi's language is continuing to simply explode. She's coming out with new phrases constantly, and can now count up to ten and tell you the names of basic shapes. I think the latter is thanks to her new favourite programme, 'Mister Maker', which she insists on calling 'Makey Makey'... which has, of course, stuck and will forever be the name of both the programme and the presenter as far as I'm concerned.

Fourthly, I'm really starting to properly bump now. It still largely depends on what clothes I wear, but generally I do look properly pregnant rather than just fat. Bought a new maternity top today since H&M were giving out 20% off vouchers and I have a gift card for it anyway. Tis pretty and springy - there are colours in the maternity ranges once more - rejoice!

Oh yes, and it was sunny all day when it was forecast to pelt down with more snow. BONUS!
